Former President Donald Trump made his return to Butler last night.
“Tonight I return to Butler in the aftermath of tragedy to deliver a simple message to the people of Pennsylvania and to the people of America. Our movement to make America great again stands stronger, more prouder, more united, more determined, and nearer to victory than ever before. We’re going to make America great again,” the former president said.
Crowds began to gather very early Saturday morning to have a chance to see the former president back at the Butler Farm Show Grounds, his appearance just months after an attempted assassination at the same spot.
He walked onto the stage with a live performance of God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood, who was live in attendance.
After a long ovation, Trump began his speech with exclaiming, “As I was saying” which drew laughter from the crowd, as a picture of an immigration chart was projected onto the two large video screens behind the former president. Trump was at this portion of his speech back on July 13th when the shots from Thomas Crooks rang out.
“This vicious monster unleashed pure evil from his sniper’s perch not so far away. But by the hand of providence and the grace of God, that villain did not succeed in his goal,” Trump said.
During his speech, Trump touched on many political issues, but also took time to thank local first responders and healthcare workers.
“I also want to express our thanks to the Butler Township Police Department, who are incredible people. The Butler Sheriff’s deputies, the Pennsylvania State Police, and all the other law enforcement heroes. As well as the emergency personnel, doctors, and medical team at Butler Memorial Hospital,” Trump said.
Trump also welcomed businessman Elon Musk to the stage during his speech.
“I think this election is the most important election of our lifetime,” the SpaceX founder said. “This is the no ordinary election.”
Trump spoke for nearly two hours before exiting to a live performance of opera music.
