A third gun has been found by Transportation Security Administration at Pittsburgh International Airport in the same week.
The 9mm handgun was found in a Georgia man’s carry-on luggage making this the 33-gun seized at the airport this year, which already surpasses last year’s 26. In 2019, 35 guns were seized at the airport. which was a 6-year high.
TSA officials say there is “no excuse for bringing a firearm to one of our checkpoints.”
Federal penalties for bringing weapons into the airport can run as high as $15,000 depending on circumstances.
