Pennsylvania hunters will head back out into the woods this weekend for the fall wild turkey season.
According to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, recent population trends will determine the length of the season in different Wildlife Management Units.
In most areas of Butler County the season will run through November 14th. A portion of the eastern part of the county will have a second window for turkey hunting November 25th through 27th.
Last year’s fall harvest was just over 9,000 turkeys statewide which is 7% below the previous three year average. Successful turkey hunters must tag the bird immediately before moving and report the harvest to the Game Commission within 10 days.
Fall turkey hunters are no longer required to wear fluorescent orange but the Game Commission highly recommends wearing orange especially when moving in the woods.
