A couple of statewide officials announced this week that they will not be seeking higher office.
Former Pennsylvania Speaker of the House and North Hills native Mike Turzai will not be running for governor. The Republican said that he toyed with the idea of jumping into the crowded field but ultimately decided against it.
Meanwhile, State Senator Sharif Street from Philadelphia will not be seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. Early polling showed Street behind other competitors like John Fetterman and Conor Lamb.
