Power was lost at Centre Township Elementary and Butler Senior High School yesterday, but power crews worked to reestablish power at both schools.
Power was expected to be repaired at the elementary school by 3 p.m. and will not impact classes this morning, according to Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White. Yesterday, there were no lights, fans, and classroom “digital assets” in the building after the power went out. Hot lunches were delivered to the school due to the loss of power and when parents were alerted about the outage they were given the option to pick up their child.
Later in the day, unrelated to the elementary school, there was an outage at the senior high school. Shortly after 2 p.m. parents of high school students were also alerted that the power had gone out. The high school also had generators helping keep limited power.
“We have emergency lights and generators, but functionally the lights are out in the building. If you walk down the hall there’s sporadic emergency lighting on, but not the full lighting we need to have a school day,” Dr. White said.
