Two men are facing charges after an elaborate smash-and-grab scheme that began in Cranberry Township.
The investigation began in mid-August at the township’s Community Park after a number of cars were broken into with the suspects taking purses, wallets, and other items.
Police say Leterrence Johnson of Georgia and Derek Washington of Florida broke the windows and then used the debit and credit cards to purchase thousands of dollars of pre-paid gift cards.
Late last week, police say the two men hit a patrol car in Frazier Township—however the pair was able to escape. But, over this past weekend, police in Moon Township were able to arrest Johnson and Washington at a hotel.
