Two Butler High School bowlers have qualified for the Pennsylvania State Championship by finishing within the top 12 of 86 bowlers during the Western Regional championship in Pittsburgh on Friday.
Mercedes Belch averaged 188 in qualifying 4th overall and Ashley McCue averaged 187 and qualified 5th. Mccue fell in the first round shootout of the championship step-ladder. Belch lost in the quarterfinals by one pin. The state championships will be held in Pittsburgh next weekend.
The Butler boys and girls teams will compete in the PA Western Regional in Pittsburgh today.
