Former Slippery Rock University players Marcus Martin and Ian Park were not drafted, but signed priority free agent deals with NFL teams following the draft. Martin signed with the Seattle Seahawks, and will enter the NFL as a fullback. Martin broke the all-time NCAA record for sacks with The Rock last season as a defensive end. Offensive guard Park has signed with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
The Pittsburgh Steelers completed their NFL Draft Saturday. Following their first selection of a safety Thursday, the Steelers seleted wide receiver James Washington Friday. Washington was the leading receiver in the nation last year and won the Bilitnikoff Award as the nation’s best receiver. He comes to the Steelers from Oklahoma State along with his quarterback Mason Rudolph, who was selected in the third round.
The Steelers also added an offensive lineman, a running back and defensive tackle, along with safety Marcus Allen from Penn State. They also signed 13 free agents following the draft, including another Penn State player in defensive tackle Parker Cothren, and Pitt wide receiever Quadree Henderson.
