Meals were distributed yesterday at Karns City High School as part of an ongoing effort to help provide food to families in need in Butler County.
The United Way of Southwestern PA has been distributing meals to students in districts throughout the area since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
Butler Region Director of United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania Amy Franz explains the Student and Families Food Fund.
“Over the course of this 13 months, we have given out the grab-and-go meals, and now we’re giving out four-portion meals meant to feed a family of four,” Franz said. “So you’re getting four portions of protein, starch, and vegetables.”
The meals are prepared by Eat’n Park and around 175 meals were distributed Thursday. The program is continuing each Thursday at Karns City School District for the rest of the month. The program also is happening at Moniteau every Friday.
