Tomorrow is Martin Luther King Junior Day and the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania is marking the occasion with a couple of special events.
The United Way’s Celebrate with Service is a virtual event honoring the legacy of MLK with two virtual events for families and individuals across the region.
The first is a Book Drive for Diversity with a goal of increasing access to books promoting a positive equality message for young readers. Although the drive itself is entirely virtual, the books and benefits they can provide are real.
The next is a Family Forum on Equality and Kindness with two sessions for parents and teens. Topics will include “How to talk to children about race” at 9 a.m. for parents of younger children and “Social media as a tool for social change” at 11 a.m. for parents of teens. Registration is required.
