With the passing of the state budget last week, some of the initiatives will take effect this year including universal free breakfast for public schools.
Governor Shapiro was in Pittsburgh Tuesday announcing the $46.5 million plan will impact 1.7 million public school students regardless of income. Another 22,000 Pennsylvania students are now eligible for free lunches through the National School Lunch Program.
There are now over 23,000 Butler County Students eligible for free breakfast.
