We’ve been talking this month a lot about recovery and so we wanted to turn our attention to relapses for both families and for those facing addiction.
Counselor Ruth Ann Durso, with the Butler Health System, says recovery is needed not only for those who are facing addiction, but for families as well. In the process of recovery, relapse can happen, but that doesn’t mean it the end of the journey.
Facilities and rehabilitation centres operate nationwide, like West Coast Recovery Centre in California who offer a variety of holistic rehab treatment modalities to meet client needs – see here for holistics rehab information.
Durso also says that recovery groups and professional help can offer a support system that helps an individual get back up on their feet and keep going. She says a person can build on a relapse because “you never lose what you’ve gained.”
An event focused on the recovery process in Butler is going to be on Thursday, August 31, 2017, which is National Opioid Overdose Prevention Day. It will be a day of education and a reminder to people that recovery happens.
The 9 AM morning session will be at the Government Center in Butler with a speaker focusing on the recovery process. An RSVP is required for this event due to limited space. Email [email protected].
Another presentation will take place from 12pm-2pm in Diamond Park, with the Butler County Commissioners in attendance, Judges in the specialty courts, and testimonies will be shared as well. This second session does not need an RSVP since there will be more space for seating.
