The United States Department of Agriculture wants to help farmers and ranchers who have had operations directly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Applications are now being accepted for the USDA’s Coronavirus Food Assistance Program with new commodities recently added and other adjustments made to the program based on feedback from producers.
Commodities added to this program include: beets, blackberries, lettuce, and green peas. Other previously eligible commodities such as apples, blueberries, garlic, and potatoes can now receive CARES Act funding as a result of price declines during the pandemic.
The deadline to apply is August 28th. To apply for this program or for more information, visit the USDA’s website at farmers.gov.
