A federal government agency is providing a new online resource for rural communities in the fight against the ongoing opioid epidemic.
A new website from the United States Department of Agriculture aims to help rural leaders build a response to the crisis tailored to meet the needs of their community. That website can be found at usda.gov/topics/opioids.
Through the website, the USDA hopes to provide support for addressing this national problem at a local level through investment, strategic partnerships, and best practice information.
According to the National Center for Health Statistics, over 32,000 Americans died of drug overdoses involving opioids like prescription drugs and heroin in 2016.
