USFL gearing up a return

37 years after its demise, the United States Football League has announced a return to play next spring. It is expected the league will return with at least eight teams, with each retaining their original names. The USFL has joined with Fox Sports as an official broadcast partner. The Pittsburgh Maulers were part of the original league which began in 1983, but folded after the 1985 season. The league began with 12 teams.
