Significant damage was done to a vehicle after it caught on fire following an accident in Butler Township.
Police say the crash happened Sunday morning on Meridian Road just after 5:30 near W. Rick’s Restaurant, when 19-year-old Torin Basham of Butler struck a utility pole with his SUV.
Basham and a 21-year-old man fled the scene after the vehicle caught on fire. Neither were injured.
Basham was charged with traffic violations including failing to notify police of an accident and hit-and-run.
W. Rick’s was temporarily closed for a few hours Sunday afternoon because of the accident and a loss of power.
