Velma J. Smith Montag, 91 of Floral City, Florida, formerly of Butler, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, at Ocala Regional Hospital, Ocala, FL.
Born November 13, 1930, in Butler, PA. She was the daughter of the late Albert G. and Helen (Lowry) Protzman.
Velma retired from the former Serva-Star in East Butler in 1992, having worked in the cafeteria department.
She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Lecanto, FL. Velma was a former member of St Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, Butler, PA.
Surviving is her husband, Allen D. Montag who she married July 21, 2004; son: Terry R. (Cindy) Smith of West Sunbury, PA; three daughters: Marilyn Smith of Wexford, PA; Dr. Janet (Robert) Skees of Pittsburgh, PA; Wendy (Kerry) Leslie of Butler, PA; four grandchildren: Nicholas Smith, Nash (Ashley) Leslie, Dylan (Chelsea) Leslie and Hannah Skees and two great grandchildren; two step children Diane Montag Rigos and Rodney Montag; three step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren; one sister: Mildred Sutton of Butler, PA; also numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and first husband, David M. Smith, Jr., one sister, Edith Oesterling, and one stepson, Larry Montag.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10 am with Rev. Jared Townley officiating at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
