About two dozen people braved frigid temperatures to attend a candlelight vigil Thursday night at the site of an overdose memorial in downtown Butler.
The non-denominational service began at 6 p.m. and was open to the public. The memorial will continue to be located on the site of the former Worsley’s building, at the intersection of Main and North streets, through the end of the year.
The memorial includes a cross constructed for each of the 88 Butler County residents lost this year due to drug overdoses. Each cross is adorned with a wreath and a purple ribbon signifying overdose awareness.
