Vincent A. Pelliccione, Jr., age 91, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born in Butler on April 7, 1927, he was a son of the late Vincent A. and Rose Bruny Pelliccione.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II. He was co-owner of Pelliccione’s bar and restaurant on Butler’s South Side. In 1964, he left the restaurant business to work for the US Postal Service, where he retired in 1991 after 27 years of service. He also worked part-time in the Circulation Department of the Butler Eagle for 20 years.
He was a lifelong member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. In 1952, he and his wife Martha, who passed away in 2010, were the first couple married in the current church located on Center Avenue. He was a member of the founding group that started the Butler Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was also a past member of the Italian Society of Butler.
Vince was a private person, dedicated to his family and friends. He was an avid golfer and he enjoyed watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. He loved to read and was challenged each day by the New York Times crossword puzzle.
He is survived by two sons, Vincent and his wife, Nancy, of Saunderstown, RI and David and his wife, Bonnie, of Ephrata, PA; one daughter, Marian Linton and her husband, Jim, of Gibsonia; one son-in-law, Norman Buck, of Freeport; seven grandchildren, Michael, Beth, James, Anthony, Abbigail, Valerie and Angela; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Mary Katherine, Dayne and Aileen; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Eury Pelliccione, who passed away July 21, 2010; a daughter, Anna Marie Buck; three brothers; and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 28, at 10 am from Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Avenue, Butler.
