Virgil B. Lucas, 85, of Butler quietly passed into the presence of his heavenly Father on February 19, 2022 in his home.
He was born September 27, 1936 in Ruthford, PA, the son of the late Arthur and Leona Lucas.
He graduated from Clarion State Teachers College. He then went on to Kent State University to receive his Master’s Degree and furthered his education at Westminster College.
Virgil had a long career with the Butler School system as a chemistry teacher, assistant principal, and administrator. He was well known for his ability to memorize all the students names each year.
His life was characterized by a deep love for his wife, his family and his church family at Community Alliance Church where he served in numerous capacities for 55 years.
Virgil met Kathy at the Christian and Missionary Alliance church in Akron, Ohio and married her in December 1961. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
He was an avid hunter, enjoyed golfing and gardening. He was especially proud of the tomatoes he would grow each year and share with neighbors, friends and family.
In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by his daughter Christine Stalnaker and her husband, Greg of Jefferson, Maryland; son, Brian Lucas of West Sunbury, PA; one brother, Frank Lucas (Barbara), two sisters, Pauline Kestermont, and Barbara Funk; and nieces and nephews.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 19th at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler, PA 16001.
