Virginia M Winters, 92, of Butler passed away, July 4, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. She was born Jan. 18, 1931, in Butler, to the late Elmer and Margaret (Mahler) Kriley.
Virginia was a 1948 graduate of Butler High School. She worked 5 years in the office at Franklin Glass and worked at the Election Polls for over 30 years. She embraced her Catholic faith with sincerity and unwavering devotion. She enjoyed gardening and making quilts, which she made over 50 beautiful quilts for her family. Virginia served as a member of the South Butler Ladies Auxiliary since 1955. She was also a member of the Ladies of All Saints Parish.
Surviving are her 4 sons; Paul Winters, Thomas Winters, Kenneth (Donna) Winters, William (Suzie) Winters; all of Butler; 4 daughters; Sandra (Christopher) Norris, Judith (David) Zarnick, Kathleen Masartis, Mary (Richard) Etzel; all of Butler; 15 grandchildren; Thomas (Marianne) Norris, Jon Norris, David (Megan) Winters, Megan (Corey) Helfrich, Kaela (John) Hogan, David Zarnick Jr., Danielle (Pete) Butville, Nicole (Corey) Hepler, Chelsie (Ian) Brooks, Adam Etzel, Brian Etzel, Mark Etzel, Billie Winters, Thomas Winters Jr., and Kasi Spears; and 1 step-grandchild, Victoria Hohman; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Carol Kriley
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Richard J. Winters, whom she married September 8, 1951; and her brother, Richard Kriley.
Winters – The friends of Virginia M. Winters who passed away, July 4, 2023, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10:00 am, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. with the Rev. John Baver officiating. Interment to follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
