The public is invited to learn more about an annual program to help those in need file their taxes at an upcoming event.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is holding an open house Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clearview Mall across from Pearle Vision. Visitors can schedule tax appointments, view resources, and enjoy light refreshments.
The annual program for families and individuals who are at low to moderate income levels finds local volunteers to help other residents file their income taxes. Each volunteer is IRS-certified.
The free tax preparation services are available through April 15th. To sign up, those who are interested are asked to call 211 and select option 1. There are locations in Butler, Cabot, Cranberry Township, Kittanning, and Slippery Rock.
