W.Pa native Miller set a new record during his All-Star appearance

Western Pennsylvania native Mason Miller broke a record set by current Pittsburgh Pirate reliever Aroldis Chapman for the fastest pitch thrown in an All-Star Game. Miller, the Oakland Athletics closer, threw a pitch in the fifth inning Tuesday that was 103.6 miles per hour. It topped the pitch thrown by Chapman of 103.4 miles per hour in the 2015 All-Star Game when he was part of the Cincinnati Reds. Mason Miller is a Bethel Park high school graduate, who spent four years at Waynesburg University. He also earned the victory in Tuesday’s game.
