There’s still time for residents to participate in a unique fundraiser for local students that begins next month.
Participants in the Mars Planet Foundation virtual “Walk Around Mars” fundraiser collectively achieve enough miles to make one lap around the surface of planet Mars.
By paying a fee of $25, each participant will commit to log a total of 26.5 miles over six weeks beginning April 16th. Those who are not walking can donate to the cause by visiting the website of the Mars Planet Foundation.
The registration deadline is Wednesday. Proceeds will be used to provide for teacher grants as well as scholarships for students to continue education.
