Walter L. Hoover, 84, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
He was born February 24, 1933 in Claytonia, the son of the late Albert Sherman and Catherine (Hilliard) Hoover.
Walter was a member of Rider Lutheran Church. He belonged to the William H. Miller Masonic Lodge #769. He was a coal miner and was with UMWA and US Steelworkers for 33 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Wilson of Butler, one grandson, Kirk Wilson and one granddaughter, Tracy Wilson, 3 great-grandchildren, Cole, Kenzee, and Carter. He is also survived by one sister, Bonnie “Sis” Gregorski of Texas, and two brothers, Ray Hoover of Portersville and Lonnie “John” Hoover of Portersville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Hoover whom he married on June 29, 1951 and passed away on February 12, 2016 and his grandson Scott Wilson. He was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
Service will be private.
Interment in the Rider Lutheran Cemetery, West Sunbury, PA.
