Wanda Lee Clawson, 86, of Chicora, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on April 27, 2018 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in this struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Wanda was born in Karns City on July 22, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Ruby Lewis Snyder.
Wanda married Robert Clawson at the Karns City United Methodist Church on March 1st, 1956. Robert preceded her in death on September 15, 1986.
She retired from Penn Champ in East Butler after 30 Years of employment. Wanda loved sports and especially loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates. She was an avid bowler and golfer. She was a member of two Red Hat Society groups and enjoyed wearing her various red and purple accessories. Shopping was one of her favorite activities. Wanda was a member of the Karns City United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Her loving companion at home was always her dog.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Joan Garing and Lydia Emerick and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wanda was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Richard Snyder.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Karns City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Lewis, church pastor, officiating.
