More than 50 people were reportedly evacuated from the Leechburg area of Armstrong County late Thursday night because of flooding problems. The Kiski River breaks off of the Allegheny River near Freeport (in southeast Butler County). Homeowners who live near the banks of the Allegheny and Kiski rivers are taking steps to avoid flood damage.
Late last week, heavy rain combined with warm temperatures that led to snow melt caused flooding problems in several areas of the county. According to Butler County Emergency Services Director Steve Bicehouse, the county’s water rescue team completed 14 rescues last Friday.
