Wayne Albert Stewart, age 69, of Saxonburg, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospice at Cabot following an illness.
Born February 6, 1948 in Butler, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Alice Faye McKee Stewart.
He worked in the maintenance departments at Pittsburgh Metals and ESM and then went on to work as a custodian for the Mars Area School District for 11 years, retiring in 2011.
Wayne’s hobbies included cutting grass, hot rods and painting cars.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Cindy L. Thiel Stewart, whom he married on April 7, 2007; four sons, Shane Justin Stewart and his wife, Kristina, of East Butler, Rob Kildoo and his wife, Darren, of Butler, John Kildoo and his wife, Jessica, of Saxonburg, and Joe Rodgers, of Saxonburg; one daughter, Angela Alcantara and her husband Christopher “Gus”, of Saxonburg; and one sister, Sharon Wagner and her husband, William, of Pomfret, MD.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Charles, Sarah, and Lyndsy Burkhart, Shane Liam Stewart, Alexis, Kira, Owen, and Hayden Kildoo, Layla Schwickrath, Nicholas and Hunter Gonzales, and Zachary Wynne; one great-grandchild, Charlie Burkhart.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by one son, Charles J. Burkhart, who passed away December 15, 2013.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Avenue, Butler, on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 7, at Saint John’s Reformed Church, 494 Evans City Road, Butler, with Reverend Jarrod Crawford, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Saint John’s Reformed Church Cemetery.
