The Butler Area School District has received a grant to help support the Kids Weekend Backpack Program.
The district recently applied for and received a $20,000 grant from the national No Hungry Kid foundation.
$18,000 will be dedicated directly to purchasing food items and the remaining $2,000 can be used for transportation to get the food or distribute the food to those in need.
Organizers of the district’s Kids Weekend Backpack Program has had to cancel several fundraisers for the program since March so these additional resources will arrive at a perfect time to allow for this service to continue.
