Athletes with connections to Western Pennsylvania fell just short in their efforts to qualify for the Summer Olympics.
Knoch graduate Jordan Geist came up just one spot short of making the Olympic team in the men’s shot put. After qualifying for the final round of competition, he finished in 7th place in the field that took the top six.
Meanwhile, Hampton graduate Elaina Balouris Tabbs competed on Saturday in the women’s 10,000 meter run. She finished in 24th place out of the 44 person field. Tabbs currently lives in Boston and is the daughter of Butler ophthalmologist Dr. Dean Balouris.
