Butler County-based Westinghouse Electric will lay off 1,500 workers total as part of its reorganization.
The company made the announcement on Thursday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
This comes during a turbulent time for the nuclear firm and one of the county’s biggest employers. Earlier this year, Westinghouse’s parent company, Toshiba, announced it had to write down more than $6 billion in losses.
In March, Westinghouse filed for bankruptcy because of the cost overruns on two new nuclear power plant projects in Georgia and South Carolina.
