Wilferd C. “Bill” Ifft, 102, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 13, 2022, at the Community Living Center at the Butler VA Medical Center. Bill’s family wants to especially thank the staff at the Community Living Center for the kind and loving care that he received while a resident there.
Bill was born November 8, 1919, in New Brighton, Pennsylvania to the late Frank Parker Ifft and the late Edith Hogue.
Bill worked as a Salesman and Department Manager at Montgomery Ward, retiring on March 1, 1981. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #19 in New Brighton, PA, and AARP. Bill was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII. He was a member of the Medical Corp – 49th General Hospital in the South Pacific serving in New Guinea and the Philippines. Bill liked playing golf and bridge.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Susan M. (Richard) Pranno of Kirtland, OH; six grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Pranno, Jon Pranno, Mary (Chris) Fincham, Sarah (Kevin) Butler, Rebekah (Jaret) Havanchek, and Daniel (Krystal) Pranno; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Yeager Ifft, whom he married in March of 1941 and who passed away on November 17, 2002; an infant son; and his sister, Jean Smith.
Friends will be received Friday, May 27, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA, with Chaplain Ed Roglund from the Community Living Center at the Butler VA Medical Center, officiating.
Officers and Members of the American Legion Post #117, American Legion Post #778, and the VFW Post #249 will conduct military services after the visitation at the Funeral Home.
Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.
Memorials are suggested to the donor’s favorite charity.
