William C. “Squirrel” Fedorek, 88, of Chicora passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 21, 2024 at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
William was born in Pittsburgh on July 10, 1935. He was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Doring Fedorek.
Bill was of the Catholic faith. He attended Catholic school on the south side of Pittsburgh and in his earlier years worked as a block layer. He was later employed at Pullman Standard in Butler as a welder and retired as a custodian at the Karns City Area School District. Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran and also served in the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Chicora American Legion and a member and past governor of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Chicora.
Bill enjoyed junk collecting, fishing, hunting, trips to the casino, playing cards, refinishing furniture, reading the Butler Eagle from cover to cover and most especially teasing the grandkids.
Bill is survived by his wife Jacobine “Jakie” Van Horn Fedorek whom he married at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora on July 16, 1960. He is also survived by two children, Sharon Altmire and her husband, Perry, of Eau Claire and Dean Fedorek and his wife, Tina, of Chicora; his grandchildren, Erin Burkett and her husband, Jason, of Erie, Eric Baptiste and his wife, Elizabeth, of Butler, William “Bill” Fedorek and his wife, Courtney, of Hookstown, Brittani Fedorek of Chicora, Brayden Fedorek and his wife, Noelle, of Imperial; his great grandchildren, Owen and Cameron Burkett, Jackie Baptiste, and Hunter and Oliver Fedorek; a sister, Linda Dovalovsky and her husband, John, of Lombard, IL; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra and Russell Luellen of Butler, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends will be received at Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 4-8 p.m. Thursday . A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the funeral home.
