William “Dwight” Morrison, 85, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 6, 2023, at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries.
He was born April 25, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Harry Morrison and the late Marcella Timme Morrison and the late loving stepmother, Norma Morrison.
Dwight graduated in 1956 from West View High School. He was a fantastic drum major! His love of music, including the french horn, drums in the band, and loved organ music; including his “Lowery” and played for many church services. His military service included the Marines, a helicopter pilot in the Army, and in the Air Force as a fighter pilot, for a total of 23 years. In his civilian life, he retired from the Pittsburgh Port Authority, where he was a supervisor. Dwight later worked as a tipstaff for Butler County. He enjoyed traveling the country in the motor home. He dearly loved his family and dogs, Marcy, and Buster.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Betty I. Morrison, who he married in 1985; one son; one daughter; three stepchildren, Barry D. Adams, Kevin B. Adams, and his wife, Charlene, and Debbie Moore, and her husband, Mike; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Frederick Kettering, and his wife, Alison.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Morrison, Jr., grandson, Kevin C. Adams.
Friends will be received Sunday, February 12, 2023, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023, 11:00 am at the Gospel Fellowship Presbyterian Church, 161 McFann Road Valencia, PA, with Rev. Dr. Matthew Everhard, officiating.
Officers and Members of the American Legion Post #117, American Legion Post #778, and the VFW Post #249 will conduct military services following the funeral service at the church.
Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.
