William H. “Bill” Griffiths, 71, of Chicora, Fairview Twp., Butler Co., went to be with the Lord Monday morning, January 3, 2022 at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born in Frogtown, near Kaylor, on July 4, 1950. He was the son of the late Harry “Short” and Doris Olcus Griffiths. Bill was a graduate of East Brady High School. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Community Church in Sugarcreek Twp., where he was baptized as an infant. He was an active elder and served on the church consistory, building & grounds, and the cemetery board. Bill took great pleasure in traveling and driving to his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews football, soccer, basketball, softball, T-ball, and baseball games. He also enjoyed driving or riding to camp, playing cards especially euchre at Happy Hunters, and many other vacations and adventures with family & friends.
In his early years, Bill worked at Castle Rubber in East Butler, but retired in 2012 from Witco/Sonneborn in Petrolia following many years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Turner Griffiths, who would have together celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 15, 2022. Also surviving are three children, Theresa Davis and her husband, Joe of Templeton, Eric Griffiths and his wife, Sarah of Karns City, Alison Belles and her husband, Jim of Shelocta; eight grandchildren, Katelyn Bronder and her fiancé Brett Valentine of Gainesville, FL, Matthew, Joshua and Emily Griffiths of Karns City, Justin and Luke Davis of Templeton, and Brooklyn and Bria Belles of Shelocta; sister Linda Guntrum and her husband William “Butch”, brother Willis Griffiths and his wife Kay both of East Brady, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathy Turner Anderson and her husband Dave, Jim Turner and his wife Dot, Richard Turner, Alice Turner Anderson and her husband Bob, Tom Turner and his wife Lori, John Turner and his wife Deana and David Turner and his wife Michele; his aunt Marian “Babe” McKenzie of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Mary Double Turner, a sister in law Shirley Turner, and a number of uncles, aunts, cousins.
Family and close friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6- 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 – 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Community Church in Sugarcreek Twp. A funeral service will follow from the church with Rev. Frank Sapp Jr., church pastor, officiating. Interment will be near his family in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Twp., Armstrong County.
