William Leonard Burns, age 73, of Butler, passed away Tues., Aug. 23, 2022 at Pittsburgh VA Medical Center.
Born in Ellwood City on Oct. 1, 1948, he was a son of the late Henry Clay and Evelyn June Hoffman Burns.
A Vietnam veteran, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was employed for 30 years as a truck driver for Midwest Transit.
When not spending time with his grandchildren, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and taking bus trips with friends. He was a kind and generous brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend, always willing to lend a hand.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Bopp Burns, whom he married June 14, 1974; one son, Joshua Burns and his wife, Lindy, of Sewickley; two grandchildren, Henry Todd Burns and Libby Leeann Burns; two brothers, Robert Burns and his wife, Linda, of Tennessee, and Richard Burns and his wife, Cindy, of Portersville; three sisters, Julie Rebel and her husband, John, of Beaver Falls, Bonnie Dyke and her husband, Mitch, of Ohio, and Jean Haas and her husband, Robin, of New Castle; and a number of nieces and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Burns and Charles Burns.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Monday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Burial will take place in Saint Michael’s Cemetery.
Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery at 2:30 p.m. by American Legion Post 117, American Legion Post 778, VFW Post 249, and VFW Post 499.
