Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic were both ousted in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon yesterday in surprise upsets. Murray, the top seed at the tournament and the defending champion, fell to 24th-seeded American Sam Querrey 3-6, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-1. Querrey is advancing to a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time in his career, and he’s also the first American man to reach a major semifinal since 2009. Second-seeded Djokovic’s Wimbledon also came to an end when he dropped out of his quarterfinal match because of an elbow injury while trailing 11th-seeded Tomas Berdych 7-6 (2), 2-0. Third-seeded Roger Federer and Number 7 Marin Cilic won their quarterfinals matches to advance to the semis.
