The Wolf Administration is once again making a push to increase the minimum wage.
Secretary of Labor and Industry Jennifer Berrier says that the current minimum wage of $7.25 is not a livable wage. She is advocating for Wolf’s plan to raise the minimum wage to $12 per hour with a path to $15.
“This increase would boost the income of more than 1.46 million Pennsylvanians and it would put more than $1.3 billion into the hands of workers,” Berrier said.
However, those opposed to the raise say that wages have increased by themselves over the past two years and there is no need for a state law.
The last minimum wage increase in Pennsylvania happened in 2009 after a law passed by Congress.
