Governor Tom Wolf is outlining his plans to spend around $2 billion in federal funds sent to Pennsylvania via the American Rescue Plan.
Wolf said one of the main areas he wants to target is relief for families still struggling to get back on their feet as a result of the pandemic.
He’s calling it the Pennsylvania Opportunity Program.
“This is a $500 million program that will help families and workers afford child care, after school care, pay for education and training to increase their wages and get better jobs,” Wolf said. “It would also cover basic household expenses like transportation, food, housing, utilities, broadband.”
Wolf’s plan also lists more funding for healthcare workers, small business assistance, and investments in conservation and recreation.
The governor is hopeful that the Republican-led legislature will embrace some of the ideas.
