The new state budget sets aside a significant amount of funding for affordable housing.
Governor Tom Wolf spoke earlier this week touting the budget’s $375 million for affordable housing.
Wolf says this needs to be more than a one-time investment.
“So this is a first step and we need to keep coming back to this year after year after year,” Wolf said. “This was a year where we primed the pump. We had this money for one purpose, and in the future it’s going to be for one purpose, and that’s to help Pennsylvanians.”
The money is split in three ways: the Whole-Home Repair Program, rental assistance, and for affordable home construction.
Wolf adds that the funding stems from the American Rescue Plan.
