Governor Tom Wolf is touting the opening of a new baby formula manufacturer in Pennsylvania.
ByHeart opened near the Reading area earlier this year. Wolf says his administration approved a $1.75 million grant that helped in funding the completion of a canning line and dry blend area.
“It’s a wonderful thing for Pennsylvania to lay claim to the first baby formula manufacturing plant to open in the U.S. in 15 years,” Wolf said. “This is really meeting an important need.”
The opening of the plant comes amid a national shortage in baby formula, which Wolf attributed in part to the fact that there are only a handful of companies that produce baby formula in America.
