The Butler County Water Rescue Team was needed yesterday to help a hiker and two dogs that were surrounded by flood waters.
Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company says they received a call just before 4 p.m. for a hiker and their dogs that were forced to seek higher ground on a trail near Miller Road which is along Wolf Creek in Slippery Rock.
They said that the ice was breaking on the creek, forcing ice jams and flooding.
Crews arrived to find that the water was rising quickly and pushing the creek outward, which prompted them to call in the water rescue team.
They were able to use inflatable boats to safely rescue the hiker and two dogs.
No one was injured.
