A woman is recovering after being rescued out of a creek in Lawrence County.
Emergency crews received a call for a kayaker who was in trouble in the Slippery Rock Creek in Perry Township, which is near Ellwood City.
Our news partners at WPXI say the swift waters sent her kayak into a tree and caused it to fill with water. She was eventually able to free herself from the kayak, but had to cling to a branch until first responders arrived.
Crews initially had a difficult time accessing the woman due to the quick waters, which resulted in them using a boat for the rescue.
The woman suffered cuts and bruises, but was treated at the scene.
