Students in a local school district will have the chance to win a spot at a special dinner by collecting unique trading cards.
Last month the Mars Area School District invited members of the Adams Area Fire District, Adams Township Police Department, Mars Borough Police Department, Middlesex Township Police Department, Quality EMS, and the School’s Police Force to join Pittsburgh Pirate David Bednar and San Francisco Giant Will Bednar to have their pictures taken and printed on “Hometown Heroes” trading cards.
Today district administrators will distribute packs of the cards to nearly 1,900 Mars students in kindergarten through 6th grade. One lucky student in each grade level will receive a pack containing a golden ticket in the form of a card featuring Mars Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross.
The students who find this lucky card will be able to invite a Hometown Hero of their choice to join them at a free dinner later this month at Luciano’s Italian Brick Oven in Mars. Both Bednars are also expected to attend this gathering.
