The latest attempt at a compromise by the Butler Area School District regarding the playoff eligibility of their football team has been rejected by the WPIAL.
According to Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White, the WPIAL held a board meeting Monday afternoon.
“Our football coach spoke directly to them. We offered a compromise, and said we’re already in District 10 for the next two years. If you allow us to remain eligible for the playoffs in this two-year cycle, then we will commit to return to the WPIAL for football at the conclusion of this two-year cycle. A majority of the board did not agree with that.”
White went on to say that District administrators will continue to have dialogue with the WPIAL concerning a mutually acceptable solution.
Solicitor Tom Breth has been directed to explore next options available to the district and further discussion is expected to take place at the next board meeting on this upcoming Monday.
