The top administrator of the WPIAL is resigning.
Amy Scheuneman is stepping down as the executive director for the state’s largest district high school sports league.
Scheuneman took over as executive director July 2020, replacing former Butler Athletic Director Tim O’Malley.
She served as the first woman to hold the position.
Scheuneman says that she is taking a different position, indicating that it could be out of athletics. That will be announced on April 18th.
The WPIAL board of directors is then expected to meet the next day to discuss the possible approach in replacing Scheuneman.
She said her resignation will go into effect following the spring sports season.
