The YMCA is currently addressing some issues within their building today but they are open for business.
The organization is dealing with a waterline break and won’t be able to accommodate swimmers today since they have closed their pools. They hope to have their smaller, warmer pool (Pool 2) and the Whirlpool back open tomorrow, (Fri. 6/11). The larger pool (Pool 1) likely won’t be open again until Thursday, June 17, 2021.
All of the locker rooms are open at this time.
Our newsroom spoke with Executive Director, Sandra Ihlendfeld, and she says that amount of water that fell on Wednesday had nowhere to go. Without a way for the water to drain quickly, the YMCA was affected. The staff did evacuate the building yesterday after the rain hit the area. The waterline break was a result of the heavy rains.
Again, the YMCA is open today and you can use their facility.
