The Zelienople Borough is the latest municipality to agree to major sewage upgrades to the Western Butler County Authority.
Also known as the WBCA—the authority is looking at $64 million in total upgrades to the system that is serving a growing population in the southwestern corridor of the county.
The expansion of the authority comes via the Act 537 Plan, which is a state law requiring municipalities to adequately plan their sewage operations.
Officials believe grant money will also help ease the cost of the upgrades to residents.
