The Butler Area School District has chosen a new top administrator to help turn Emily Brittain Elementary into a “community partnership and demonstration school.”
Cassandra Pencek will take over the duties on July 1 after spending time as an assistant principal at a Middle School in Fox Chapel School District. Before that, Pencek served as an assistant principal at Evans City and Rowan elementary schools in the Seneca Valley School District.
Emily Brittain- which is located in the city of Butler- currently serves about 250 students in grades kindergarten through fourth. The population served by the school has the highest poverty rates of the district.
Superintendent Dr. Brian White said the change is still in the early stages but the plan is for the school to be used as a testing ground for educational improvement programs, using collaboration from local community partners who will form an advisory board.
