The 11th State House District will continue to be represented by a Republican.
Marci Mustello defeated Democrat Sam Doctor in Tuesday’s special election in Butler County. According to unofficial results, Mustello took 57 percent of the vote (5,952 votes to Doctor’s 4,400).
“I woke up today with a great feeling because it’s a win for the district,” Mustello said in an interview Wednesday morning. “It’s a win for western Pennsylvania- and Butler County especially.”
Mustello says she did hear from her opponent- Sam Doctor- following last night’s results.
“Mr. Doctor did call me and graciously conceded,” she said. “And I told him that I want to talk to him and dive more into his issues because they really do affect the 11th district.”
Mustello is not new to politics. For the past eight years she has been serving under U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-16).
Mustello will take the seat formerly held in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives by Brian Ellis. Ellis resigned earlier this year following allegations of sexual assault.
